Historic Information
In the English Channel the Preussen and the Steam Ship Brighton collided in  fog on the 5th April 1910 near Beachy Head.  The Preussen was holed and called for tugs in the hope of making Portsmouth but due to a storm coming out of the west the tugs made for Dover.  The storm caught the three tugs and Preussen which lost two anchors and was driven past the entrance to Dover Harbour and onto rocks near the South Foreland.  Dover Harbour tugs was called to assist but the largest sailing ship ever built was aground on the rocks.  Her cargo was rescued and the ship began to breakup even today you may catch sight of what remains of this ship at an exceptionally low tide.
